Sydney Civil is proud to announce the formal endorsement of its inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), covering the period January 2026 to June 2027.
Endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, this milestone marks an important step in Sydney Civil’s commitment to reconciliation and to building respectful relationships, fostering understanding, and creating meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
A Commitment to Reconciliation
Sydney Civil joins more than 3,000 organisations nationwide participating in the Reconciliation Action Plan program. Since 2006, RAPs have provided a structured framework enabling organisations to contribute meaningfully to reconciliation through relationships, respect and opportunities.
Our Reflect RAP represents the first stage of this journey and is focused on building strong foundations by:
• Increasing cultural awareness across our workforce
• Embedding reconciliation into everyday business practices
• Strengthening relationships with First Nations communities
• Exploring pathways for employment, training and procurement
This plan reflects our commitment to listening, learning and taking meaningful action.
Building Relationships
Strong relationships are fundamental to our Reflect RAP. Sydney Civil is committed to engaging respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations, while supporting participation in initiatives such as National Reconciliation Week.
These actions aim to increase visibility of First Nations cultures, histories and perspectives across our workforce and strengthen connections within our industry and local communities.
Respect Through Learning
Respect sits at the heart of Sydney Civil’s reconciliation approach. Our RAP focuses on building understanding through education and awareness, including:
• Cultural learning and capability development
• Understanding local Traditional Owners and Custodians
• Appropriate use of Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to Country
• Participation in NAIDOC Week events and activities
Creating Opportunities
Sydney Civil is committed to exploring opportunities that promote equity and inclusion through both employment and procurement.
Our Reflect RAP includes actions to:
• Develop pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment
• Strengthen engagement with Supply Nation and the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce
• Increase participation of First Nations businesses within our supply chain
Governance and Accountability
A dedicated RAP Working Group, led by senior leadership, will oversee implementation of our commitments. Progress will be monitored, measured and reported annually to Reconciliation Australia to ensure transparency and accountability throughout our reconciliation journey.
Looking Ahead
Sydney Civil recognises that reconciliation is an ongoing commitment requiring genuine engagement, reflection and action.
“This Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan is an important milestone for Sydney Civil. While we acknowledge that we are at the beginning of our reconciliation journey, we are committed to taking the time to listen, learn and build meaningful relationships. Our focus is on embedding respect, accountability and opportunity into the way we operate, so we can create positive, lasting outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and for the communities in which we work.”
Andrew Christie

We look forward to continuing this journey and strengthening our contribution toward a more inclusive and connected future.
