An important connection for pedestrians travelling from the Danks Street precinct to the East Village shops, Sydney Civil worked closely with Council and Transport for NSW on a much-needed intersection upgrade at Lachlan Street and Gadigal Avenue. The upgrade was designed to make it safer for people walking and cycling through the area.
What works were done?
- Signalised traffic intersection
- Road resurfacing and line marking
- New signage to support changes to traffic movement
- Extension of a small section of the Gadigal Avenue cycleway (to the north)
- More street trees
To minimise disruption to businesses and residents in the area, Sydney Civil undertook much of the installation works during the day. This project was prioritised by Council for safety reasons and has vastly improved the flow of traffic on Lachlan Street through the removal of right hand turns at 2 points.
