Environmental sustainability is about positive change and longevity – both for our business and our planet. Done well, it creates resilience and endurance, and it enables us to perform on aspects that matter to us and to our clients.
As an enabler of positive change, sustainability is embedded into our business model, our decision-making processes, our planning and how we deliver our projects.
Our embedded sustainability framework aligns with our business values and drives a consistent approach to how we act, make decisions, implement our policies, and deliver on our sustainability goals and targets.
This approach allows us to realise our commitments to environmental stewardship, good governance, sustainable procurement and social responsibility.
First Nations Prosperity
Sydney Civil is committed to advancing Reconciliation, bringing diversity in thought and talent to our team, and engaging with First Nations suppliers, contractors and partners.
We systematically incorporate First Nations economic prosperity outcomes into our business transformation efforts. As construction partners, we learn from and seek to embed First Nations knowledge that connects to our own understanding of community and influences our process.
We’re proud of our progress in supplier and staff engagement and continue to invest in building capability in Indigenous procurement, underpinned by our sustainable supply chain plan, and creating the right culture and conditions to continue welcoming staff from diverse backgrounds.
Prioritising Safety
Safety is our number one priority, for our team, communities and partners.
We regularly review our policies and procedures to ensure we are placing safety at the forefront of all we do. Our innovative practices mean that we are working to high standards of safety, quality-consistency, environmental awareness, and integrity.
Our mission is to continue to meet these standards by utilising the expertise of our team to understand the complexities of our clients, their unique requirements, and those of the communities in which we work.
One of our organisational values is ‘respect’, and we perform this most importantly through keeping the safety of people and planet front of mind in all aspects of project planning and delivery.
Community
We are proud to have spent more than 25 years working across Sydney. From the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games to the steps of Town Hall, cycleways in Pyrmont to major thoroughfares in Surry Hills, our approach to local communities is one of respect and integrity.
This approach manifests via business process and charitable works. We have one of Sydney’s largest in-house traffic control teams, all of whom are rigorously trained and mentored to work safely and helpfully with businesses and residents.
We support charitable endeavours across Sydney in the communities in which we work, including the second year of partnership with Redfern-based organisation Souths Cares. Outside of work, we encourage our employees to join and be active in their own specific communities and help wherever we can.
